Salma Murr Mehio, 93, of Nederland, died Sunday, August 25, 2024. She was born July 23, 1931, in Bteghrine, Lebanon, to Mary Saliba Murr and Wadih Murr. Salma Mehio was an angel who touched the lives of everyone who had the pleasure of being in her presence. She came to America from Lebanon with her four children and raised them fearlessly and selflessly on her own. She spent countless hours learning English and studying to give her and her children a fulfilling life. She was so proud to become a medication aide and taking care of her residence was her joy. He was born February 2, 1929, in Beaumont, to Opal Collins Herrington McKinley and Charles Aaron McKinley, Jr. Charles loved deer hunting and fishing in Bolivar Bay. He served in the United States Coast Guard and the National Guard. Charles retired from Amerpol-Synpol rubber production plant in Port Neches. He was an excellent carpenter. He was always willing to help others and will forever be remembered as a loving father, husband, and grandfather. Survivors include his children, Charles A. Richard Aaron Vega, 49, of Port Neches, died on Saturday, June 8, 2024. He was born on June 6, 1975, in Nederland, to Sue Ellen Ballance and Richard Lee Vega He will be remembered by his family and friends by his love of fishing, boating, and working on his trucks and his love of racing. He had a great sense of humor and his love of Dr. Pepper’s. He will always be remembered as a hard worker and there to help if someone needed help. Robert “Bob” Wayne Stegall, 72, of Nederland, died Saturday, June 8, 2024. He was born March 11, 1952, in Dedham, Massachusetts, to Therese Marie Downing Stegall and Herbert McKinley Stegall. He was a graduate of Dedham High School and a graduate of Mass Maritime. Survivors include his mother, Therese Stegall; children, Erica Stegall and B.J. Stegall; grandchildren, Promise Grant and Kyli Stegall; sisters, Anne Marie McDougall and husband, Billy, and Paula Stegall and partner, Tommy; and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins. He is preceded in death by his father, Herbert “Red” Stegall, and wife, Katie Stegall. A gathering of Mr. Stegall’s family and friends will begin at 2:00 p.m., with his memorial service at 3:00 p.m., Tuesday, June 18, 2024, at Broussard’s, 505 North 12th Street, Nederland. Gloria Garcia, 87, of Nederland, died Friday, June 7, 2024. She was born on June 21, 1936, in San Antonio, to Elodia and Julio Orozco. Gloria was a great homemaker and a great cook. She was a very good Christian. She often visited nursing homes so she could pray with and for others. She enjoyed her plants and stayed fit by walking whenever she was able. Most of all she loved her family.
