Chase Briscoe Drives Sick at ROVAL, Advances to NASCAR Cup Series Round of 8! (2025)

Chase Briscoe's Sickening Ride to the Round of 8

In a thrilling NASCAR Cup Series season, Chase Briscoe's journey to the Round of 8 was anything but smooth. Despite a stellar Round of 16, Briscoe faced a challenging Round of 12, but his determination and skill kept him in the championship hunt.

The Sick Driver's Tale

Briscoe's race at the Charlotte Motor Speedway ROVAL was more than just a performance struggle. He bravely competed while feeling unwell, dealing with nausea throughout the race. Despite these challenges, he finished a respectable 14th, which was enough to secure his spot in the next round, leaving him 19 points ahead of the cutline.

"It was definitely an unusual day," Briscoe reflected. "I wasn't feeling my best, and the car wasn't perfect either. I was dizzy at the start, but a pill helped me feel better. I've been battling something all week, and my voice is terrible, I'm sure."

As the race progressed, Briscoe's health improved, but he still had to navigate the track with caution, trying to avoid any mistakes.

The Road Ahead: Round of 8

Starting the Round of 8 in seventh place, Briscoe remains optimistic. He's just 14 points behind the cutline and believes the upcoming tracks suit his driving style better than the previous round's tracks, where he finished 10th, 4th, and 14th.

"I'm feeling positive about the next round," he said. "New Hampshire and the ROVAL were tough for us, but the upcoming tracks are more traditional. I think we have a real chance."

The Round of 8 will take Briscoe to Las Vegas, Talladega, and Martinsville, and he's hoping his two wins this season will carry him to the Championship 4 for the first time.

"I believe we can make it happen. We might need a win, but the playoffs are unpredictable. We'll give it our all and see where we end up."

And this is the part most people miss: Briscoe's story is a testament to the resilience and skill of these drivers. Despite illness and challenging tracks, he's still in the running for the championship. It's a reminder that in NASCAR, anything can happen, and the road to victory is often paved with unexpected twists and turns.
