Install Instruction

• Extract the downloaded zip and PUT Package + Script together only ONE folder deep OR directly into your Mod Folder. Any package with a ! at the front of the package name is an override of other mods and you need to put it DIRECTLY in your Mod folder. Any other mods without scripts should be less than FIVE folders deep in your Mod Folder. Do NOT keep the zip in your Mod folder!

• Where is your Mod folder? You can usually find it in Documents > Electronic Arts > The Sims 4 > Mods, but you might have installed it in another location.

• How to extract zip?

  • • Download 7-Zip for Windows: 7-zip.org

• If there is a ! in the name, e.g. !chingyu_RomCompatibility, put it DIRECTLY in your Mod folder. (or a Zer0's Override folder if you understand what it is.) Do NOT Remove the ! in the name.

• If there are more than one OPTIONS for a mod, make sure you only put ONE option in your Mod Folder!

• Now you can enjoy playing with my mods!

Troubleshooting

Step 1: Check if your game is patched up to the newest version.

Step 2: Check if the "Enable Custom Content and Mods" and "Script Mods Allowed" are ON in Game Options. (You need to re-enable it after a game patch!)

Step 3: Does the mod's name appear on the list of mods running shown the game startup? No? Did you extract the zip file and put Package + Script together only ONE folder deep or directly into your Mod Folder?

Step 4: Did you remove any outdated versions of mods from the Mod folder? Check Compatibilities Did you download any of the conflicting mods stated?

Terminology

Names Explanations:

• The V (some numbers) are the updated VERSION NUMBER of the mods and you should download the up-to-date version of the mod and delete all the outdated versions.

• If you see an Option in the package name, it means you need to choose ONLY ONE package of that mod! E.g. Only ONE option should be installed from More CAS Traits!

• If you see an addon in the package name, it means it is "a mod for a mod". It is optional to install. If you choose to install it, check the mod download requirements to make sure you have already downloaded all the main files and required mods for this addon to work.

• If you see a ! at the front of package name, it means it is an override of other mods. You need to put it DIRECTLY in your Mod folder. (or a Zer0's Override folder if you understand what it is.) Do NOT Remove the ! in the name.

• If you see a casVer in the package name, it means the package is a main file of the custom traits pack and it is the Personality (CAS) Traits Version.

• If you see a RewardVer in the package name, it means the package is a main file of the custom traits pack and it is the Gameplay (Reward) Traits Version.

• Check the explanation below for what's the differences between CAS version and Reward version.

• If you see an EP/GP/SP in the package name, it means you need to REMOVE any package with the codes of sims 4 pack you don't have! Otherwise, you will get LEs and blank pages of many things!

Q. Translations

How do I install a translation for Chingyu's mod?

• If you use a separated translation package, download the mod as usual and also put the translation package directly in your Mod folder. (or a Zer0's Override folder if you understand what it is.)

• Do NOT Remove the ! in the name.

I'm a translator. Can I translate Chingyu's mods/ Can I share my translation on other sites/ How can I send a translation I made to Chingyu?

• Yes, you can translate my mods with the following requirements.

• If you have a translation of my mods, please also inform me and send the translation to me on my Discord Server or to my email: chingyu1023vick@gmail.com. I will upload the translations to the mod download page and credit you! 😉

• You may also share a translation package that with ONLY the string tables you edited on your own site or the other forums if you want to but NOT to re-upload the mod tunings and scripts. No re-upload of the mod features.

• If you put a punctuation mark in the name, the game runs that package first. It overrides the other mods. In this case, if you put a ! in the name of a package of string tables, e.g. !chingyu_100traits_P1_CN, it overrides the original string tables to be the translated one.

Q. Broken UI

Your mods/custom traits causes broken UI! Help!

Only put !chingyu_addon_LumpinouMoods in your Mod folder if you also installed Lumpinou_MoodPackMod!

If you don't want to use mod by another creator or are not interested in custom moods, you can remove this addon from your Mod folder. The add-on is optional!

Remove any packages tagged with pack codes you don't own from my Skill Decay and Smarter Self-Care or you may have broken UI!

"More Traits In CAS" causes broken UI after patch! Help!

• A quick reminder that thepancake1 and MizoreYukii's More Traits in CAS is a UI mod that is likely to be broken by the patch and it's not maintained by me. You may ask and check their server and Patreon for their updates.

• If you have packages with names like chingyu_something, they are created and maintained by me. 😉 If you have a package with the name something_chingyucompatible, it’s not made by me and you need to contact that exact creator for their mod concerns.

Q. Custom Traits & Traits Overrides

There are traits with llamas icons and blank names showing up in CAS

• Remove ANY Packs you don't have from DisallowHumanTraitsForPets. Otherwise, you get multiple "llamas" unusable traits.

Traits are not showing up in CAS mode! Help!

• If you install RewardVer of traits, they won't show up in CAS mode. You need to add them to Sims either with Add Traits Menu, Sorted Traits Picker, and/ or Reward Store.

• Any of my mods with scripts should be only ONE folder deep or put directly in your Mod Folder. Any of the other mods e.g. traits should be FIVE or fewer folders deep in your Mod Folder.

• Check if the "Enable Custom Content and Mods" and "Script Mods Allowed" are ON in Game Options. (You need to re-enable it after a game patch!)

How can I update 100 Traits Pack from V1 to V2?

• Please remove the Part 1 & Part 4 folder from V1 if you use 100 Base Game Traits Pack V2.

• V2 has merged part 1 as Basic and part 4 as Attractiveness.

• I haven't remade the chingyu_addon_RealDisorderNames for V2 because of some translation issues. Please remove the addon if you use V2.

• Extract the downloaded zip and PUT Package + Script together only ONE folder deep OR directly in your Mod Folder. Do NOT keep the zip in your Mod folder!

• Download CommonTraitsMenu if you want to manually enable/ disable buffs from my traits!

• Download either casVer_BasicTraits or RewardVer_BasicTraits!

• Download addon_LumpinouMoods ONLY if you also have Lumpinou_MoodPackMod!

• You can use both casVer_AttractivenessTraits or RewardVer_AttractivenessTraits!

What's the difference between V1 and V2? I don't see much changes.

The list of traits is the same. The difference is the additional features added to each trait. You may keep V1 if you are not interested in the additional features or want to pick separate packages for each trait.

What's new for Basic Traits (Part 1) in v2?

• Provide both CAS version and Reward Version which can be used together or stand-alone.

• Basic Traits are now available in the reward store

• Turn on and off buffs with cheats. (shift-click---> Traits Control)

• New traits by suggestions added

• Whims suiting their personalities

• Social interactions (now only some traits have been added)

• Emotional Weight Multipliers supporting custom emotion types from Lumpinou

• minor details: traits origins, custom font colors

• Add-on to change Buffs to Lumpinou's custom emotion types.

What's new for Attractiveness Traits (Part 4) in v2?

• Provide both CAS version and Reward Version which can be used together or stand-alone.

• Attractiveness traits are now available in the reward store

• Turn on and off buffs with cheats. (shift-click---> Traits Control)

• Added romance/friendly/funny success score and their autonomy

• Added the autonomy for nearby romantic interests/closed ones

• Replaced the buffs from outfits with EA compatible blueish icons

• The CAS version and Reward Version are displayed in different icons and font colors

• other minor details: Emotional Weight Multipliers supporting affectionate emotion from Lumpinou, slightly adjusted values, traits origins

What's the difference between Original (CAS) and Reward Version?

• Reward Version does not appear in the Create A Sim mode. It is for people who don't want them to appear there and also to add as many traits as they want in gameplay mode. NPC Sims spawned by the game will NOT be randomly generated with traits of any of the Reward Version. You may prefer to install the Reward Version for traits that you don't want to see a random townie get.

• Original (CAS) Version appears in the Create A Sim mode. It's easy to use but there's a limited number of CAS traits a Sim can have. NPC Sims spawned by the game will be randomly generated with traits of any of the CAS Version.

Why do you merge the traits pack into a single package? I want to pick!

• There is a very specific purpose that I need to merge packages for most of my traits packs. MCCC and Sims After Dark LE help discord keep telling people to delete some of my mods because they see the package numbers of people's mod files are too large while all my mods are well-supported and my mods are not the reason for the LE. It is unfair to me and would confuse users when the helping channels keep doing so.

Can I install both Original (CAS) and Reward Version?

• For 100 Base Game Traits V1: No, you need to choose either one.

• For V2 and other trait packs of mine: Yes, you can.

Is there is separated version of 100 Traits Pack to pick only what I want?

• I can't do that for 100 Traits Pack V2 because now they share some common files and also it is extremely hard for me to keep track of the translations strings.

• I will leave the V1 to be separated packages for anyone who prefer that. They are still compatible with the current game patch.

Where can I see the traits info for the traits pack?

• For 100 traits, you can refer to 100 Base Game Traits Pack section on my site and check this google spreadsheet.

• For other packs, you can see the gameplay features in their section of Traits Info.

Q. More CAS Traits & Add Traits Menu

How to add more than 3 personality traits to a Sim?

Download "AddTraitsMenu" +"DisallowHumanTraitsForPets" (if using options of PLUS 4/5 Pet Traits)+ download and choose ONE "MoreTraits_Options" you want to put in your Mods folder.

With the package Add Traits Menu,

Under gameplay mode, click on any sims or pets. Click "Actions". Then "Add" or "Remove" any traits as you wish. "Change Personality Traits" appears on sim-self only.

You may also use Sorted Traits Picker to add traits sorted out:

Under gameplay mode, Click on any sims ---> Trait Pickers---> Add xxx Traits by xxx

No additional slot in CAS! Why can't I add more than 3 traits in CAS mode?

You have to do it in the live (gameplay) mode.

My mods do not edit the CAS UI so it won't get broken every patch. It's also impossible to edit UI for many different versions.

Personality (CAS) Traits are not showing up in Add Traits Menu! Help!

• Check if your Sim has already met the maximum amount of personality traits they can have. See how to increase the maximum amount of personality traits with More CAS Traits Mod.

• Some creators have set their traits to be conflicted with their other traits or in-game traits (just like Good is conflicted with Evil). Conflicted traits of your Sims' current traits are hidden.

• Some traits are not set to be available for all ages and they will be hidden.

• Any of my mods with scripts should be only ONE folder deep or put directly in your Mod Folder. Any of the other mods e.g. traits should be FIVE or fewer folders deep in your Mod Folder.

• Make sure if you do not own any known conflicted mods with More CAS Traits:

  • • addon_Flerb_more_traits.package from Automatic Sunburns

    • oxco's Fatal Flaws

    • bienchen's sims4me_lesslonglivingactivesims

• USE ChingyuCompatible.package from thepancake1 and MizoreYukii if you also use "More Traits in CAS" by thepancake1 and MizoreYukii to change the UI.

Duplicates!? Why are there two sets of traits showing in Add Traits Menu

• This is normal if you have both the Reward version and CAS version installed for my custom traits. If you don't want to use both versions, you may remove the version you don't need.

• This is normal if you use my EA Traits As Reward and Traits Remade In CAS for clones of in-game traits. Add Traits Menu shows both the original in-game version and my version. In the menu, my EA Traits As Reward shows a trait description of "reward trait" and Traits Remade In CAS shows a trait description of "personality trait".

• This is also normal if you see some duplicates of other traits/mods from other creators because Add Traits Menu shows all traits in the game that is available to add to your Sim. For example, WickedWhims/ WonderfulWhims has two sets of archetypes traits working in the background and it is normal to ignore them in the menu.

llama icon traits without name showing in Add Traits Menu? Is there something wrong???

• This is normal if you see llama icon traits without names in Add Traits Menu because the menu shows all traits in the game that is available to add to your Sim. They could be in-game gameplay traits without names and icons and any gameplay traits from mods that are used in the background. It is safe to ignore them in the menu.

Q. Traits Picker

How do I install Traits Picker?

• For my custom traits, you only need to put the chingyu_Picker_DO NOT REMOVE package and script ONE folder deep or directly in your Mod Folder. The option to pick a trait from my traits pack would auto show up when you have my traits in your Mod folder.

• For custom traits from other creators, you need to click on the links to other creators and download their traits from their site for them to show up in the picker. If you don't want those pickers, you can delete any of the picker packages other than the DO NOT REMOVE one.

• The links to my custom traits and traits made by other creators is on the info page of Sorted Traits Picker.

Traits are not showing up in Sorted Traits Pickers! Help!

• Check if the corresponding Custom Traits Packs are installed properly. "Sorted Traits Picker" is a MOD to pick traits in gameplay mode. Not CC Traits! You need to download the mentioned custom traits for them to show up in the pickers! Remove any picker you don't need.

• Check if your Sim has already met the maximum amount of personality traits they can have. See how to increase the maximum amount of personality traits with More CAS Traits Mod.

• Some creators have set their traits to be conflicted with their other traits or in-game traits (just like Good is conflicted with Evil). Conflicted traits of your Sims' current traits are hidden.

• Some traits are not set to be available for all ages and they will be hidden.

• Any of my mods with scripts should be only ONE folder deep or put directly in your Mod Folder. Any of the other mods e.g. traits should be FIVE or fewer folders deep in your Mod Folder.

It gives MCCC Errors/BEs/LEs when I click on Traits Picker!

If you don't own every trait on each list (e.g. all Kiara Traits when using Picker for Kiara), the error pops up. It’s inevitable and annoying even though it doesn’t do harm to the game.

The original Add Traits Menu does not have this issue.

Q. Reward Store

I can't see 100 Traits' Reward Version in the Reward Store!

My Reward Store page is BLANK! Traits not showing up in Reward Store!

• For my custom traits and All Traits In Reward Store to show up in Reward Store, it requires having an XML injector in your Mod folder

• Remove ANY Packs you don't have from All Traits In Reward Store. Otherwise, you get a LE and a blank page of the store

• Any of my mods with scripts should be only ONE folder deep or put directly in your Mod Folder. Any of the other mods e.g. traits should be FIVE or fewer folders deep in your Mod Folder.

Can't purchase in the Store! "Your Sim does not meet the proper age requirements..."

• Check if your Sim has already met the maximum amount of personality traits they can have. See how to increase the maximum amount of personality traits with More CAS Traits Mod.

• Some creators have set their traits to be conflicted with their other traits or in-game traits (just like Good is conflicted with Evil). Conflicted traits of your Sims' current traits are shown as "does not meet the proper age requirements".

Duplicates!? Why are there two sets of traits showing in Reward Store?

• This is normal if you have both the Reward version and CAS version installed for my custom traits. If you don't want to use both versions, you may remove the version you don't need.

• If you use both my EA Traits As Reward and All Traits In Reward Store, you see two sets of "in-game personality traits". The cloned one of Traits Remade In CAS is remade as gameplay traits and costs 2600 points in the reward store. The other one is the original CAS version from All Traits In Reward Store.

Q. Game mods

Interactions/Menus are not showing up! Help!

• Any of my mods with scripts should be only ONE folder deep or put directly in your Mod Folder. Any of the other mods e.g. traits should be FIVE or fewer folders deep in your Mod Folder.

• Check if the "Enable Custom Content and Mods" and "Script Mods Allowed" are ON in Game Options. (You need to re-enable it after a game patch!)

Age Up Add Preferences/Lifetime Traits give LEs when Sims growing up!

• Remove any package with pack codes you don't own!

• Remove any addon for custom traits/ preferences if you do not install the corresponding traits pack!

Q. I'm a new mod user. How to download mods?

I don't know how to install mod. Help!

Can I merge the mods with Sims4Studio?

Can I ONLY install a specific part of one mod/ Can I remove a part I don't use?

You need to look at each mods' download instruction to see what's the must-download part and what's optional.

If you have anything unclear, you may ask on my discord server.

So many things to download! What should I choose?

If there is "OPTION" in the mod name, you need to choose one only!

My recommendation for MoreCASTraits Options:

I do NOT recommend option 10 unless you have a high-end gaming PC.

• If you have a decent PC, I would recommend going for option 23

• If you have a good PC, I would recommend going for option 19

• If you have a normal PC, I would recommend going for option 8

My recommendation for mix and match of Original (CAS) and Reward Version:

CAS Version: 100 traits, Toddler traits, Faithfulness traits, Absent Emotion traits

Reward Version: Supernatural traits, Seasons traits, Wicked traits

Q. Mod Compatibility with other creators

Are the traits packs compatible with XXX mods by XXX creator?

• All my Custom Traits Packs are compatible with any other mods. There should be no conflicting mod. CC traits hardly conflict with any other mods.

Is this mod conflicted with XXX mods by XXX creator?

• If there is a "None of the game resources are edited" statement on a mod info page, it means there should be NO conflicting mod.

• If there are edited game resources, I have already stated what commonly questioned mods that are compatible or not on each mod info page and download page. You may ask me if you have a mod that you are unsure about.

• You may also check the "Edited Game Resources for References" on mod info pages if you are an advanced mod user.

Q. Give suggestions on mods

Are you going to add XXX traits by XXX creator to your Club Filter/Traits Picker/other mods?

For Club Filter, You may give me the name and the link of the traits by other creators in #mod-ideas on my discord server. It may take some time for me to collect the traits IDs and inject them into the filter and so please be patient.

For Traits Picker, You may also suggest them in #mod-ideas on my discord server. I would rather do pickers for traits creators who keep their CC traits updated for patches so I would like to talk to the creators and ask for their consent before doing this.

For other mods, I would ask for the other creator's consents before any collaboration.

Can I suggest a CC trait idea/new mod idea to Chingyu?

The effect of a Chingyu's mod is going too fast/slow/extreme? Where can I tell Chingyu about this?

Q. How to update mods

I'm using an old game version. Can I use Chingyu's mods?

I have been keeping my mod updated for the latest game patch every month. I highly recommend you always keep your game version updated.

If you have any special need to use an outdated but legal game version, you may contact me on my Discord Server and see if I have kept an old copy of my mods' previous versions. However, it will be your responsibility to check if the old copies of the mods are working for you.

Is this mod updated/ working with the latest patch?

Make sure you checked the Mod Status after a game patch.

• It tells you the latest update dates and current version code of each mod.

• It also has a name-tracker for packages and scripts for you to find out the origin and links to each chingyu mod you have in your Mod folder

• You can also find the name list of obsolete mods on spreadsheet.

Q. Game crashes & LEs

My game crashes! What's wrong!

Common causes of a game crash, suggested by the MCCC server:

1. Sims 3 files

2. Broken Mods/CC

3. Graphics Settings too high for your computer

4. Having households larger than 8 (often this crashes during saving)

5. Outdated graphics drivers (only applicable to Windows users)

6. Mac players using older versions of macOS (in particular, 10.11 El Capitan, 10.12 Sierra and up to 10.13.6 High Sierra)

What Can I Do?

• If you're a Mac user who is on High Sierra, you must update to 10.13.6. If you cannot update to Mojave, it is likely your Mac does not support Metal and you need to run the Legacy Version of the Sims for your Mac.

Otherwise, you must perform a 50/50 in order to find all the broken mods & CC and remove/update them. A video by Onyxangel to help you to do 50/50 Mods/CC

My foxes disappear! You need to update your mod!

More CAS Traits mod has already been updated for the Cottage Living patch. Remove any old files of it from your Mod folder! I saw someone still have an outdated version from 2017!

Make sure you checked the Mod Status after a game patch.

I can't get into build/buy mode. I get a LE of sim_knowledge.py

For 100 Base Game Traits V1, when you change from using Reward Ver to CAS Ver or vice versa, you need to follow these steps:

1. Remove the version you were using

2. Get into the game

3. Save and exit the game

4. Install the version you want to change to

5. Re-add the traits to your Sims.

Your mods/ custom traits show up in the BE Patch Day Scanner! Are they broken?
